Kelly Williams Brown offers a great take-down of typical media and framing on generations in this TedX talk. Since I've offered my own screeds about this before here, here and here, I enjoy seeing someone much younger than me state it so simply and well. My favorite line is towards the end:
"I don't think that there's anything especially wrong about Millennials. I think we're exactly the same as every generation before us."
In my efforts to shed light on actual "generational" data and stereotypes, I actually am trying to hit the opposite point that Brown is making - there's nothing especially great about Millennials. Because in the world of planning and cities, that's all you read or hear in the media. It's time to take a step back and get past silly stereotypes.
